My dearest hobby is fishing. I just returned from another great trip in Päijänne and Vehkajärvi in Finland. One small lake trout and several pikes were enough to make our crew to smile. I wish I could do this more often.
Sverre Lilieqvist is an old friend and a legend when it comes to free skiing. About ten years ago we were shooting together for the very first time and it was a great success. He was and still is one of my favourite skiers to take photos of. After quite a few years not shooting together Sverre called me last winter and mentioned that he will come to my home resort for a day. That day ended up to be pretty good. Here is a classic powder shot that made it to the cover of J.Lindeberg autumn/winter 2014 catalogue. Thanks Sverre and thanks the J.Lindeberg. Also thanks to my wife who delivered the photo to them while I was camping in Spitzbergen.
Winter is getting closer and same time the stoke level is getting higher. Happy to see that TNF used this action shot as their latest ad campaign in North America. The photo is taken last april in Spitzbergen and the rider is Xavier De Le Rue a.k.a. “Speedy Gonzales”
I really hope that the summer will last couple more months. But same time so uber stoked about this front cover in Skiing (USA), and it is the photo annual! Thanks to Giulia Monego, the skier, and all the people working for Skiing. Next time when we will meet i will buy the drinks.
I am not kidding when I am about to say that this summer has been below average in Switzerland. Past years my day routine has been swimming pool with the kids pretty much daily. This summer I have been hanging out at the pool maybe five days due the bad weather. Schools are starting next week and I guess the summer “fun” with the kids is over. I took this photo today to try to explain this summer in south-west Switzerland. One more warm and sunny day before next week. Please.
Yesterday I was shooting a new sport for me, sailing. It was interesting gig as you really have to watch out the salt water not getting into your camera gear. I was mainly using a water housing to capture these images for Vacon Group. Thanks to olympic sailors Mikaela Wulff and Julia Toroi to make my job easy even the conditions were bit tricky. Also not to mention my colleague, Blumi, who did good job as an assistant. I also filmed a little video, the edit will come out soon. Good times in Helsinki
I have had this little treasure for years now. It was handed to me by my grandpa who really liked fishing but not so much with the reels. I never really used this one as it is not the best one for fishing these days. Anyways there are all the original repair kit, oil..etc left. It is very exciting open the box and look at the Reel and the kit. The original swedish Abu.
Geraldine Fasnacht and Julien Meyer made history on saturday to be first two base jumpers to jump from the Matterhorn, Zermatt (summit). I was the lucky photographer to witness this amazing moment. I was definitely nervous before the jump but seeing them to fly down was kind of relaxing and powerful moment. Thanks to Buonasera productions to put this together and invite me and my friend Tim Burgess to capture the jump. More news and video coming soon. Congrats Geraldine and Julien.
It has been a great week. First some great snow sport photos in Zermatt followed by a three day family holiday in Legoland Germany. I never used to realise how important the holidays were. This one really opened my eyes. Just a simple camping trip can bring so much joy into your life. I really wanna do it again soon.
Normally may is the best time to shoot free riding at the Alps. This year it has been a struggle for me. Wrong time at wrong place. Today we tried to shoot some faces close to Verbier. No love again. Tomorrow is going to be a sick day in Zermatt. The very first time for years I said no. I am going to spend a day with family instead shooting some snowboarding and skiing. I really hope the crew will nail it tomorrow, they definitely deserve it.
Nico Zacek is the guy behind the 9Knights event. When he asked me in Ispo to join the event, I didn’t hesitate to give a positive reply. This is hands down the best and most powerful event in the freestyle skiing. Thanks again Nico. Hopefully see you soon ;) Nico, this is you. you still got it!
Photo shoot with Faction skis today in La Clusaz, France. Here is my assistant and Faction employee Matthieu. He did really well, I guess I owe him a beer or two. Thanks for everyone for a great day. I really hope you guys will have another good session tomorrow. -Tero
ps. Made it in 2h10mins from Clusaz to Verbier with quick pit stop in MC-D in Megeve.
Oh boy it was windy today. Besides that it is always nice be part of the Freerideworldtour.com finals in Verbier. Maybe you guys have better idea how the riding was today as I was taking photos at the start gate and couldn’t see the actual runs. I will watch them this week as I heard there was some pretty epic lines to be done today. Thanks for everyone. Party hard tonight. My journey continues to Italy tomorrow morning. More updates soon…
